Volunteer Spotlight- Lyn Harvey
Meet Lyn Harvey – one of our superstar volunteers! Since joining our team in 2024, Lyn has been a constant within Mint, always happy to jump in whereever needed. From social strolls and getting creative at Creative Hub, to helping out at holiday programmes, markets, woodwork and even our big events like the Mint Ball, Lyn is always ready to lend a hand.
Her kindness, energy, and “can-do” spirit make everything have a big ripple effect through our organisation and she never hesitates to jump in wherever she’s needed. We’re so grateful for all the ways Lyn brightens our programmes and brings joy to everyone she meets.
Polyfest- Mīharo Murihiku
This October, the Mint performers took the stage at Mīharo Murihiku, Central Lakes Polyfest! After performing in Dunedin last year, this time the crew brought made their way to Queenstown.
Under the musical guidance of Dennis Kahui, the group opened with a powerful haka and followed with four beautiful waiatas/songs.
Their custom t-shirts were designed by Ferdia O’Connell, who also performed, and were created in the Creative Hub as part of his entry for Mīharo Murihiku’s t-shirt design competition.
Employment- Community Conversation
Wilson and Dorset, recently hosted a fantastic community event bringing local businesses together for an open, down-to-earth conversation about inclusive employment. Real stories were shared, questions were asked, and connections were made – all with the goal of creating more vibrant, inclusive workplaces.
A huge thank you to Wilson and Dorset for hosting, and to QLDC, Sidekick Wanaka, and Community Care Trust for sharing their experiences and supporting the event. Thanks also to everyone who came along, spread the word, and helped make the night such a success!
Special Olympics Swimming!
Nine talented swimmers from Wānaka proudly represented the Otago Special Olympics Club at the Gore Tier 1 competition. The team travelled together and enjoyed an overnight stay, fostering team spirit.
Community Sponsorship- FITGym Wānaka
In April 2024, we welcomed a fantastic new sponsor to our community—FITGym, Wānaka!
Chuck and Bianca Simpson, along with founder David Patchell-Evans, graciously opened the doors to their new facility in Three Parks and have been unwavering supporters of Mint from the start.
Looking for a New Home!
As Mint Charitable Trust grows, we are on the hunt for a new space to base our organisation. We are searching for a ground-level location, around 70 square meters, ideally nestled near Three Parks, Gordon Road or the Wānaka township.
